As the title says,
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Creative Writing. Before I started my adventure in Design, I did my four year studies in writing at the University Of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and I earned my degree in May of 2017. It was after my graduation that I decided to continue my education at Parkland College in order to fill an empty void that involved majoring in something art related. Right in the middle of my first full semester at Parkland, I realized that Interactive Design partially filled the void. Coincidentally it wasn't until I earned my associates in Interactive Design that I realized I would only need to take one more semester to also get an associates in Graphic Design, that was a no-brainer.
After all my experiences, one would think that I balanced both writing and design, right?
Nope.
Unfortunately, as I began my second major in Design, I mostly pushed writing aside because at the time, I associated it with the stress of writing stories that required a certain amount of words and pages. Because of this, the typewriter had been left to collect dust.
In the summer of 2018, I temporarily broke the slump when a friend who worked for an online magazine, Smile Politely had asked me to write an article about my interest of elevators (that's for another blog). With his help, my article was published but the slump continued thereafter.
Before the story starts to become a novel, I just graduated from Parkland College and now have a job as a warehouse worker at Amazon. The transition from school to having a job is a blessing especially with the pandemic and all. It might not be a writing or design job, but it gives me something to do and with it being part-time, I can devote my free time with balancing my skills in both writing and design.
This page might look underdeveloped at the moment, but like great works of art, you start with a blank canvas. As I write one blog after the other, the page and website will be refined. Though this is a design website, I am not going to limit myself to design. As a creative writer, I enjoy the freedom of basically writing what I want to write. You might see blogs about life events, observations, design, and possibly something random. It is for this reason, that I end this post with a couple questions. Do you currently read blogs? If so, what topic interests you the most?
Great blog and congrats! I still read blogs when I need quick information. I like to read about what other writers are doing within the industry.
